Security forces comprising of a joint team of Thoubal Police Commandos and a column of 26 Assam Rifles busted an "illegal Heroin (Brown Sugar) laboratory on Monday afternoon and recovered contraband drugs worth Rs165.172 crore in international market and items in two different yet related operations.
SP ThoubalIbomcha Singh, who supervised the operation, as a part of the state police'swar against drugs, while interacting with the media, informed the securityforces in the two related operations, had recovered a total of 41.293 kgs ofcontraband drugs.
The highranking officer also said upon receiving specific intel input, security forcesrushed to the residence of one Ningkhangam Awungshi located at Sada KhumbiVillage in Thoubal district where they conducted a search operation.
Searching of the premise led to the discovery of "two large plastic sacks" containing Heroin (Brown Sugar) and other items that are used in manufacturing contraband drugs.
The officeralso said "14.316 kg of suspected Brown Sugar" was found to be insidein one of the bag, which has a marking of "Kannaiya TradingCompany." On the other hand, theother bag, with the marking "white crystal sugar" was found tocontain "26.305 of suspected Brown Sugar."
Later, basedon the revelation of the arrested man, the team also rushed to the residence ofWungreingam Awungshi, who is the sibling of the arrested person, from where twoother large sacks were also found, the SP (Thoubal) remarked.
Inspection revealed items used in manufacturing contraband drugs that included "one bottle of ammonium chloride weighing 50 grams" along with "10 liters of morphine liquid" were also discovered.
Ibomcha also told Pratidin Time that "all the seized items were used in the manufacturing of illegal contraband drugs."
Additionally, Rs. 2.8 lakhs in cash presumed to be proceeds from the sale of the contraband drugs and 502 grams of contraband drugs were also discovered.
