The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the government'sdemand to reopen and re-verify National Register of Citizens (NRC) saying thatthe security aspects of the data involving NRC will get the same kind as ofAadhaar.
According to NRC, the status of people born in indiabetween 1971 and 1987 will be decided depending on the final decision by theSupreme Court Constitution bench based on the provisions of Citizenship Act.

A bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice ofIndia Ranjan Gogoi said that only hard copies of lists of inclusions andexclusions to be provided at district offices and the NRC should be updated accordingto law laid down in Section 66a judgment.
The apex court had earlier extended the date ofpublication of final NRC from July 31 to August 31 and in the last hearing, thetop court has been firm on their decision and instructed the NRC authorities topublish the NRC on the said that in any circumstances.
