Ranganadi Hydro Electric Project will close for several months as its operator North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) has planed to repair the dam.
The dam will be closed from February 1, 2019 and remain closed until the dam improvement project is completed, which is expected to be at least three months (April 30).
Through a notice, NEEPCO clarified that the release of water from the dam is mandatory during the repairing process of a dam. So, NEEPCO calls for people to leave low-lying areas in the flood-hit areas near Ranganadi and Dikrong rivers.
