Shashi Chandra Barbaruah award to Jayanta Baruah

Assam Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary organisation of Assam, on Wednesday announced Shashi Chandra Barbaruah award to Chairman of Sadin-Pratidin Group, Jayanta Baruah. The award will be presented by Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu.

Accordingto a statement released by Assam Sahitya Sabha president Paramananda Rajbongshi,Baruah has been chosen for the award because of his contribution towardspublishing and popularising Vaishnava Literature in Assam.

The statement further said that the award will be presented to Baruah on November 1, at the inauguration function of the North East Book Fair in Guwahati.
