Majuli: Employees Of Ropax Ferry Protest Over 3 Months Pending Salary

Tension reportedly took over at Majuli Afolamukh Ferry ghat after the sudden closure of the Ropax ferry on Saturday morning.

People on the Afolamukh ferry ghat suddenly felt a huge tension on the sudden shut down of the Ropex ferry as travel and communication haad to put to a halt.

According to sources, the closure of the ferry is due to the protest of eleven drivers that the Assam government hired and is yet to pay salaries for the last three months.

The Assam Government hired the 11 drivers of Ropax ferry from the Dolphin Company assuring good salaries but has not been successful in making payments to the employees for the last three months.

As per the contract, the Dolphin Company should pay the salary on time but it has not paid the employees the salary that they need to.

After the request of the passengers, the employees have decided to sail the ferries for more than three days.

The employees have a complaint about the negligence of the government and the Majuli district administration.
