Mumbai Rainfall: 2 Electrocuted in Thane


Two people reportedly electrocuted in separate incidents in Thane districts of Maharashtra caused by incessant rains. The incidents took place on Friday night.

The first incident occurred in Thane city while the other one took place in Ambarnath, according to District Disaster Management Cell (DDMC).

The officials of DDMC said that Nagesh Nirange (46) died when a live wire fell on him after a tree got uprooted and snapped the electricity lines in Rabodia area of Thane.

On the other hand, a 22-year old Vishnu Solanki, who was a rickshaw driver was standing near the Shivaji Nagar auto stand outside the railway station at Ambarnath when a tree fell on the power cables and the electricity lines along with the tree crashed onto a tin shed where the person was standing and died on spot after getting an electric shock.

The DDMC officials, however, said that four other auto-rickshaws have been damaged in the incident.

Both the bodies have been sent for post mortem and cases of accidental death were registered by the police.
