JNU to implement mandatory attendance rule for teachers

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has made attendance compulsory for teachers, JNU rector-1 Chintamani Mahapatra said in a statement.

The decision was taken at the university's 146th Academic Council meeting, where the university took multiple decisions on various issues in order to improve academic and research activities of the university.

The Council took a multitude of decisions such as making JNU entrance examinations completely online and making it mandatory for teachers to show corrected answer-scripts to students before finalising their grade.

The Academic Council stated that students would have to submit an undertaking regarding their attendance at the start of every semester and mentioned that it had adopted rules and regulations to develop the governance and accountability of the teachers, students, and staff.

Mahapatra further added that a decision to put in place a university level time table was currently underway, to help students manage their time better.
