02. JEE Scam: Kakoli BuzarBaruah Remanded 7 Day Judicial Custody

JEE Exam scam accused Kakoli Buzarbaruah was remanded to 7 day judicial custody on Thursday. She was produced at the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court after 5 days in police custody. As per sources, she arrived with her 9 month old baby. Buzarbaruah, who is the councilor of Global Edu Light coaching institute, was arrested on October 30 from Guwahati's Rupnagar in connection with the case.

03. Snubbing Unit From Canada Reaches Baghjan

Canada's snubbing unit, which was being brought to douse the Baghjan fire, has finally reached the site on Wednesday evening. It reached Kolkata on October 23 and was enroute the blowout site via road. Equipment and accessories related to Snubbing Operation are at place and arrangement for placing the snubbing unit is in progress.

04. Assam Prof Gopal Bhattacharyya Ranks 3rd In India As Environmental Scientist

Former Gauhati University Professor Krishna Gopal Bhattacharyya has been ranked 3rd among Indian scientists and 235th among world scientists in the field of environmental science. Bhattacharyya, who is currently serving as the Professor of Assam Don Bosco University has been listed among the 2% of top scientists in the world by Stanford University's team of scientists, who meticulously analyzed the works and contributions of over 100,000 scientists in the world and ranked them subject-wise.

05. Silchar: MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy Conducts Spine Surgery

Silchar's Lok Sabha MP and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Rajdeep Roy conducted a successful spine-related surgery at the medical college and hospital on Wednesday. Amid his busy schedule as a politician, Dr. Roy was back in the operation theatres. He tweeted post-surgery, "The very ambience of being in the Operation Theatre with my team act as a filip to me in the midst of hectic political life !"

06. Reliance Groups Gives 20kg Gold To Build Main Tomb Of Kamakhya

The Kamakhya Temple will get a new look from Dipawali as the main tomb of the temple will be designed with 20kg of gold donated by the Reliance Industries Group of Mukesh Ambani. Ambani, during his last visit to Kamakhya Temple assured the temple authorities that they will bear the cost of the main tomb of the temple which will be designed with gold.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to take stock of the health condition of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi. Visiting the hospital, Sonowal said, "I came to meet Tarun Gogoi as a son. I wish him a speedy recovery. We have still many works to do together for the development of the state and people. He also spoke to me with a good heart. We have not discussed anything about politics."

08. Assam: Onion Price Reduces To Rs. 50 Per Kg

The onion price has been reduced to Rs. 50 from Rs. 80 after an urgent meeting has been called by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday.  The onion price which was sold at Rs. 60 in wholesale price has been sold at Rs. 50 on Thursday at the Pamohi market. A meeting has also been called at Deputy Commissioner's office today to discuss the price rise issue.

'Sangeet Surya' Dr. Bhupen Hazarika is being warmly remembered across Assam on Thursday on his 9th death anniversary. Many social-cultural organizations in the state would be paying their heartfelt tributes to the bard of Brahmaputra. 10. NGT Likely To Ban Firecrackers In Assam

A bench headed by the chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel on Wednesday sent notices to 18 states and union territories including Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya to expand the scope of hearing cases on pollution by firecrackers during Diwali. However, the names of the cities in these states were not declared. The NGT sought responses on an urgent basis by November 5 from the mentioned states and the Ministry of Environment and Forests on whether the usage of firecrackers would be banned from November 7 to 30.

11. UGC Issues Guidelines For Reopening Of Varsities, Colleges

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday issued guidelines for the reopening of colleges and universities across the nation in a phased manner. The guidelines have been vetted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Education.

12. Bangladesh To Buy 30 Million Vaccine Doses From India

Bangladesh on Thursday signed a deal with Serum Institute of India to buy 30 million doses of potential COVID vaccine which is being developed by British drugmaker AstraZeneca. In the race against the novel coronavirus, AstraZeneca's experimental COVID-19 vaccine is considered one of the most advanced candidates.

13. Delhi Govt Bans Firecrackers This Festive Season

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced on twitter that the use and sale firecrackers will be banned this festive session in view of the rising COVID cases in the state. Kejriwal informed that a spike in COVID cases was noticed after reviewing the current pandemic situation in Delhi. He added that the sudden surge was due to the recently concluded Durga Puja and Dussehra as well as air pollution.

14. Bombay HC Denies Interim Bail Of Arnab Goswami

The Bombay High Court rejected the bail plea of journalist Arnab Goswami saying that no interim relief will be given to him in connection with his arrest on Wednesday over the suicide of an architect and his mother in 2018. The court will hear the matter on Friday at 3 pm. According to a report, Goswami had moved the court to quash the case against him.

15. 3 New Rafale Jets Arrive

The second batch of Rafale jets comprising three aircrafts has arrived in India, the Air Force tweeted on Wednesday night. The jets covered a 7,000-odd km flying non-stop from France, the IAF posted. The delivery started nearly four years after India signed an agreement with France to procure 36 aircraft at a cost of ₹ 59,000 crore.
