Northeast States Receive Over ₹110 Crore for Monsoon Damage

The Central Government has approved a total of ₹1,066.80 crore as disaster relief assistance for six states—Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Kerala, and Uttarakhand—that have been severely affected by landslides, floods, and excessive rainfall during the current southwest monsoon season.

According to an official statement released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in Guwahati, the financial assistance has been sanctioned under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) as part of the Centre's ongoing support to disaster-affected states.

The state-wise allocations are as follows:

  • Assam – ₹375.60 crore

  • Uttarakhand – ₹455.60 crore

  • Kerala – ₹153.20 crore

  • Meghalaya – ₹30.40 crore

  • Manipur – ₹29.20 crore

  • Mizoram – ₹22.80 crore

The release of funds comes under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the direction of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to provide timely and adequate assistance to all states facing natural disasters, including landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that, so far in this monsoon season, the Centre has released:

  • ₹6,166 crore under SDRF to 14 states,

  • ₹1,988.91 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF),

  • ₹726.20 crore under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF),

  • and ₹17.55 crore under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF).

In addition to financial aid, the Centre has mobilised massive on-ground rescue and relief efforts. As of now, 104 NDRF teams have been deployed across 21 states and union territories to conduct evacuation, search, and relief operations. The Army and the Indian Air Force have also been engaged to support logistical and emergency needs in severely affected regions.

The Union Government stated that the proactive disbursal of disaster relief funds and the rapid mobilisation of national response teams demonstrate its firm commitment to mitigating the impact of natural calamities and ensuring the safety and well-being of affected citizens.
