IIC bans the Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as reportedly failed to report to the anti-corruption units when he was approached by Indian bookie several times.

Shakib had several Whatsapp communications with the suspected bookies. Although he purportedly never revealed anything to the bookie he was charged with not reporting the matter to the ICC's anti-corruption units.

Thebookie had asked Shakib for inside information during an IPL 2018 match.

Bangladesh'sstar all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was handed a 2-year ban (1 of which issuspended) on Tuesday over the player's failure to report approaches of corruptconduct.

BangladeshPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced that during the moment of crisis she andher government would stand by the side of the Shakib for his mistakes but wouldrespect the ICC's decision.

That means ahead of the much-anticipated tour to India, Bangladesh received a big set back as Shakib cannot play. Shakib can return to international cricket only from October 29, 2020 — meaning he will be out of Indian Premier League 2020 and T20 World Cup 2020.
