Kohli's 50th Test win added to his tally of 153 ODI victories and 59 T20I triumphs, making him the only player to achieve the feat in international cricket.
Virat Kohli had skipped the first Test in Kanpur but returned to lead the side to India's biggest win by runs and extend their record streak to 14 successive series victory on home soil. India also dethroned the World Test Champions from the top spot of the rankings to regained numero uno position.
Congratulating on his big win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a tweet wrote, "Congratulations @imVkohli. The first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game."
Virat Kohli also registered his 11th successive Test series triumph from as many played in India as captain. The win at the Wankhede Stadium also saw India stretch their unbeaten run against New Zealand in home Test series to 14.
This was also India's 4th successive Test series win over the Black Caps at home. The World Test Champions had last won a red-ball match in India in 1988 at this venue.
"To come back with a win again it's a great feeling as a team, and for me returning as captain as well.
"It was just a clinical performance, something we've seen from our team time and again. You want individuals to step up and I think in this match they did," Kohli said at the presentation.
