Japan: Over 14 killed in Hagibis typhoon

Atleast 14 people have been killed and 16 left missing after Typhoon Hagibis hit Japanon Saturday. The worst storm in 60 years hit Japan and reportedly paralysedTokyo by flooding rivers.

Manyrivers were overflowing into residential areas across the country. As many assix million people in Honshu Island were advised to evacuate.

JapanPrime Minister Shinzo Abe extended condolences to those who lost their lives inthe tragedy. "I extend my condolences for all those who lost their lives andoffer my sympathy to all those impacted by Typhoon No.19," the PM officetweeted.

According to the Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA), the typhoon Hagibis made landfall just before 7 pm (local time) on Saturday.

It may be mentioned here that the country was rattled by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake.
