The death toll in Iran rises to 787
The death toll from the ongoing US-Israel strikes on Iran has gone up to 787 as of Tuesday, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. The organisation mentioned in a statement that amid heightened tensions, as many as 153 cities across Iran have been targeted so far.
The statement from the society further noted that a total of 504 locations were bombed in as many as 1,039 strikes since the war broke out on February 28 (Saturday). Meanwhile, reports on the ground suggest that search-and-rescue operations are underway along with debris removal and medical assistance for the injured.
Notably, the United States and Israel conducted joint strikes on Iran in which military and political leaders were targeted. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attacks, while hundreds of Iran’s civilians also came under fire.
In retaliation, Iran targeted sites in Israel and US military installations across several Gulf countries with waves of missiles and drones.
Schoolgirls Targeted In US-Israel Strikes
Iran today released an image of mass graves being dug for more than 160 schoolgirls killed in the bombing conducted by the US and Israel at a primary school. Iran’s foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a social media post, said that the bodies of the girls were torn to shreds.
“This is how “rescue” promised by Mr. Trump looks in reality. From Gaza to Minab, innocents murdered in cold blood,” he wrote.
