After carbide stuffed mangoes, coloured apples flood markets

At a time when mangoes being injected with calcium carbide have created panic among the residents of Guwahati, reports of adulterated apples have come to light.

Police has detained two persons for allegedly colouring apples in Bongaigaon. On one hand, interrogation of the two is still underway and on the other, the apples have been sent to the forensic for further examination.

Reports of a syndicate's involvement in such adulteration of fruits have been making rounds.

After Food Security Department had seized mangoes injected with calcium carbide in Adabari and Fancy Bazar, reports of seize of coloured apples from Bongaigaon has shocked the state.

In this context, Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner has issued orders to stop the sale of apples in the region.
