CM Sonowal distributes saplings to students; felicitates forest officials on occasion of Van Mahotsav

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today attended the 69th Van Mohotsav Week State Level Function at Silchang, Morigaon. The CM distributed saplings to school students and urged them to participate in plantation drives for a clean and green Assam.

Accompanied by famous environmentalist Jadav Payeng, CM Sonowal felicitated Forest Departmentt officials Jogesh Das, Noram Baghlary and Bombyshwar Gogoi for their exemplary efforts in preservation and conservation of forest resources.

While speaking on the occasion, the CM said "Numerous challenges await us in our bid to conserve our ecology. Despite all challenges, we must keep our rich forest resources intact. I urge all citizens to contribute towards the 'Green Assam' movement by helping us plant 10 crore saplings".

Earlier, Sonowal unveiled the Grand Hornbill Park in Morigaon on the occasion of Van Mahotsav. The park has undergone transformation under initiative of Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Society.

The CM also planted saplings at the venue to mark the celebrations on the occasion.
