Guwahati gets its new police commissioner as incumbent Hiren Nath has been promoted as IGP(SB) to take over the Special Branch of Assam Police while Pradeep Saloi has been given the charge of the Commissioner.

Mr Saloi will be retiring in December this year. He had several earlier stint with the Guwahati Police and was also the Superintendent of Police.

Mr Nath joined as a commissioner in 2016 and had a fairly successful career and gave a soft face to the Guwahati Police.
