Man Beaten To Death In Gauripur

In a case of witch hunting, a man was beaten to death at Parbatjhora's Madati in Gauripur. According to police, villagers suspected that he knew some black magic tricks. The deceased has been identified as Nijay Rabha.

As per reports, villagers had attacked five persons including deceased Nijay Rabha of the village as people believed that they knew black magic tricks.

Manuj Rabha, Sarati Rabha, Jadav Rabha and Parimal Rabha also injured in the attack.

It may be mentioned that branding women as witches is particularly prevalent among tribal communities in the state. Police said that "We are looking for others who were involved in the crime and will make more arrests".

It is necessary to raise awareness among people in the village against such superstitious activities.
