NRC : Claims and objections period starts

The process for filing of claims and objections for inclusion in the Final Draft NRC has started from Today as per direction of Apex Court of India.

The Supreme Court directed the Assam NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela to commence the process for filing of claims and objections for inclusion in the Final Draft NRC from September 25.

A Bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Rohinton F Nariman said in a hearing of NRC that those left out of the Draft NRC can rely on 10 of the 15 documents prescribed.

Window for filing of claims and objections shall remain open for 60 days.

The Bench said it will consider after a month whether to allow the other five documents as well or not.

Next hearing in the NRC case will be on October 23
