Two arrested over Facebook post on Assam Bandh

Two youths have been arrested over a controversial post on social media platform Facebook on Assam Bandh on Tuesday. The two youths of Dhekiajuli named Prakash Roy and Nabajit Chaudhary were arrested by police after a complaint were filed against them.

Regional Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) and All Assam Students Union (AASU) of Dhekiajuli separately filed complaints against the duo of communal remarks and  hurting the sentiments of Assamese people.

Prakash Roy quetioned in a post about how many Muslim Organisations have come out against the Bangladeshi Muslims in the state to which Nabajit Chaudhary commented as 'Khar Khua Akhomia'

The duo however denied of writing the post and said they copied the content from another post.

Similar incident occurred in the state on Sept 14 when  a social media update stirred clashes between two groups after a youth belonging to one group posted an update in Facebook allegedly belittling the other group in Doomdooam.

On June 4 too, the Assam Police arrested a man for allegedly posting comments praising Pakistan, and derogatory remarks against Assamese people and Hindus in Barpeta
