Veteran Actor Badal Das passes away

Veteran Assamese Actor Badal Das died at a hospital in Guwahati at 1:30pm on Saturday.

Aged 88, Das was under treatment for cardiac ailment in the hospital for quite some time.

The actor is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Born in Tezpur, Das studied at Kamrup Academy, Cotton College and Gauhati University.

He began his journey as a child artist in Lakshyadhar Choudhury's Alibaba at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir in Uzan Bazar. After which he acted in more than 200 plays and never looked back.

Badan Borphukan introduced Das to world of cinema.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also expressed grief on his demise saying, "Assam will recall with respect Badal Das's contribution to the world of drama. His death is an irreparable loss for us."
