“What are the contributions of RSS in Assam?”- AJYCP

Pratidin Bureau

Addressing a press conference, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP) central general secretary Palash Changmai declared that his organisation AJYCP will go for 'Padayatra' across the state of Assam from January 26.

Reacting the controversial comments of RSS- an Indian right-wing, Hindu nationalist, paramilitary volunteer organisation, which is supporting the BJP-proposed Citizenship Bill, Changmai said "Who has given them the right to initiate movement with weapons. What are the contributions of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) in Assam? We are ready to face RSS."

In support of the demand to implement the inner line permit system in the State, the leader has said that "Inner line permit, as well as dual citizenship, is very important for Assam". Changmai strongly demanded introduction of ILP in the state.

Attacking the Assam CM, Changmai said that – "Sonowal is not taking the side of Assam's indigenous communities. An undeclared competition is being continued between CM Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma to satisfy the BJP-led central government. There will be a state-wide protest on January 30 against the Bill, train blockade on February 7. BJP is doing shameful politics over Assam Xatras. CM Sonowal and Himanta Biswa are doing communal politics to gain power. AGP should stand against the controversial Bill in the upcoming Assam assembly session. We do support the procedure of granting ST status to six indigenous communities of Assam. It will protect the identities and ethnic cultures of the communities."
