Maha deadlock; SC Decides on Floor Test Today

With no end to the drama in Maharashtra, the Supreme Courtof India will today take a call on the floor test in Maharashtra that has beenplunged into a political crisis for a month now.

On Sunday, a bench of Justices NV Ramana, Ashok Bhushan, and Sanjiv Khanna issued notices to the Centre and Maharashtra government on a petition filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine against the Maharashtra Governor's decision to swear in Fadnavis as chief minister. The court also issued notice to Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.

The tripartite alliance is expected to continue demanding an immediate floor test after accusing BJP of trying to poach its MLAs. Having said that, all eyes will be on the top court, which is expected to take a final call on the Maharashtra political drama today.
