Film critic and film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to praise the movie and said, "#OneWordReview… #Dhadak: WINNER." Giving the movie a three and a half star rating, the critic added, "Comparisons with Marathi blockbuster #Sairat are inevitable… Viewed as a stand-alone film, #Dhadak has several dramatic highs, scintillating music and importantly, the young pair [Ishaan and Janhvi] is electrifying…"

Adarsh also shared the first day box office statistics on Twitter. "#Dhadak takes a HEROIC START… Rarely does a film starring absolute newcomers open so well… Day 1 is higher than #StudentOfTheYear [₹ 8 cr]… Fri ₹ 8.71 cr. India biz." He tweeted.

Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan also praised the film on social media, calling the movie 'heartwarming' and 'an important message'.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak is the official remake of the blockbuster Marathi movie 'Sairat' and stars late actress Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khatter in lead roles.
