dhurandar release
Ranveer Singh is all set to return to the big screen with Dhurandhar, a high-octane action-spy thriller directed by Uri filmmaker Aditya Dhar. With an intense teaser, an intriguing plot inspired by real-life events, and a powerful ensemble cast, Dhurandhar is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2025.
Dhurandhar Release Date
After months of speculation, the makers have officially locked the release date for December 5, 2025. The decision to go with this date over the previously considered January 9, 2026, was made strategically to take advantage of the holiday season and minimize box-office clashes. A 45-day marketing campaign is set to begin around Diwali, with teaser promotions already underway following Ranveer Singh’s birthday on July 6.
First Look and Teaser: Ranveer in Beast Mode
On his 40th birthday, Ranveer Singh's rugged first look from the film dropped, setting the internet ablaze. The gritty teaser, set to a Punjabi rap track with vocals by Hanumankind and Jasmine Sandlas, showcases a darker, more intense Ranveer — long hair, a full beard, and a cigarette in hand.
One haunting dialogue, “Ghayal hoon, isliye Ghatak hoon,” (I'm wounded, that's why I'm lethal), adds a chilling edge to the spy-thriller vibe. The teaser ends with the line: “Inspired by true events”, further heightening the intrigue.
Dhurandhar Cast: A Power-Packed Ensemble
-
Ranveer Singh as a pioneering undercover agent
-
Sara Arjun in her first full-fledged lead role in Bollywood
-
R. Madhavan reportedly portrayed NSA Ajit Doval
-
Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Yami Gautam in key supporting roles
Sara Arjun’s casting has drawn attention, not just for her talent, but also due to the 20-year age gap between her and Ranveer. Still, her transition from India’s highest-paid child actress to a Bollywood heroine is noteworthy.
Dhurandhar Plot: Inspired by Real-Life Espionage
While the makers have kept the official synopsis under wraps, reports suggest that Dhurandhar draws inspiration from real intelligence missions and may be loosely based on the life of Indian national security advisor Ajit Doval.
Set in the 1970s and 1980s, the film delves into India’s early undercover operations, with missions spanning across India and Pakistan. The teaser and visuals strongly hint at covert operations, betrayals, and fierce patriotism — reminiscent of Uri: The Surgical Strike.
