Vishnu Manchu Confirms OTT Delay

Speaking at a recent media interaction during the film’s promotions, Vishnu Manchu addressed the speculation around the digital release of Kannappa. The actor, who is also a creative force behind the project, made it clear that the movie will not be released on OTT platforms for 10 weeks after its theatrical debut.

“I have a very, very large freedom. My movie will not come to OTT before 10 weeks; that is the deal I have,” said Vishnu. “So I don’t have that OTT release pressure, and I want to show the audience the best in theaters—that is what we aimed at.”

In a bold move, Vishnu also revealed that OTT rights for Kannappa have not yet been sold, ensuring a complete and uninterrupted theatrical experience.

Aiming for the Big-Screen Experience

Unlike many recent films that head to OTT within 4 to 8 weeks of release, Kannappa is holding off on streaming to preserve the grand cinematic experience. Given the movie’s high visual scale and devotional theme, the makers have prioritized theatrical viewing.

The Andhra Pradesh government even permitted a temporary ₹50 hike in ticket prices for the film across multiplexes and single screens, acknowledging its big-budget scale and mass appeal.

The ensemble cast includes:

  • Vishnu Manchu in the titular role

  • Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Preity Mukhundhan

  • Special appearances by Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal

The film has been released in six languages—Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and English—to reach a pan-India and global audience.

When Can We Expect Kannappa on OTT?

With a minimum 10-week theatrical window, the earliest expected OTT release date for Kannappa would be early September 2025, provided a streaming deal is finalized by then. However, no official announcement has been made about the platform or digital rights as of now.

Kannappa is more than just another film—it is a cinematic retelling of a deeply spiritual and culturally revered story. Vishnu Manchu’s firm decision to delay its OTT debut underlines the team's commitment to a grand theatrical experience. Until then, fans are encouraged to witness this magnum opus on the big screen, where its visual and emotional impact is most profound.
