Close Call at Dreamland: Minor Injured, Park Says Safety Not Compromised
A minor accident at Khanapara's Dreamland amusement park, located near the Assam-Meghalaya border, has sparked public concern over ride safety, particularly for children. A child sustained injuries after reportedly falling from a ride named the "Revival Wing Tower" last Sunday.
The park’s manager, Juri Rehman, confirmed the incident, terming it an “accident” and asserting that the facility's safety systems were intact.
“This was an unfortunate mishap. The seatbelt came loose during the ride, and we suspect the child may have unbuckled it on their own due to discomfort. However, our safety infrastructure is strong. If it weren't, we would be seeing such accidents frequently,” Rehman told reporters.
Following the incident, the injured child was transported to Health City Hospital in a private vehicle arranged by the park. According to Rehman, all necessary medical arrangements were handled by the management.
“We have deployed three of our staff members at the hospital to ensure continuous medical supervision. The child received approximately eight stitches and has undergone all necessary medical examinations. Doctors have confirmed that the condition is stable, and the child is expected to be discharged later today.”
In a related statement, a woman visiting the park from Barpeta with her child said she did not face any issues during her time at Dreamland, describing the visit as smooth and without incident.
The mishap has triggered reactions on social media and among parents, especially given the park’s popularity among families and children. Located on the Meghalaya side of the Assam-Meghalaya border, Dreamland draws large crowds during holidays and weekends.
While park authorities have dismissed the possibility of structural failure or system malfunction, the incident has raised pressing questions about ride safety, staff supervision, and whether children should be accompanied more closely during such activities.
As of now, no formal investigation has been announced by authorities.
