Ferry Services in Guwahati to Resume from Tomorrow
Ferry services between the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati are slated to resume on Thursday, reports said.
As per sources, the ferry services were suspended owing to decrease in the water levels of the Brahmaputra which caused problems in plying of ferries across the river.
The Inland Water Transport Department (IWTA) had issued a notification on Tuesday informing about the suspension of ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati banks in view of the immersion of idols following the conclusion of Durga Puja celebrations across the state.
Several puja organising committees carried out their idol immersion programmes for the second day today, coupled with the lack of jetties forced the suspension of ferry services.
