Professor Dutta's multifaceted contributions as an academician, musician, and lyricist have left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Assam. His exemplary dedication to the Department of Folklore Studies at Gauhati University, where he shared his exceptional knowledge of North East Folklore, has been invaluable in preserving and promoting the region's rich heritage.
His simplicity, amiable nature has inspired him to scores of students and teachers. His unwavering discipline in both his personal and professional life serves as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His tenure as the ex-President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha further underlines his commitment to the promotion of literature and culture.
Prof. Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice Chancellor of the university stated that the Assam has lost a real treasure. He further stated that Dr. Dutta's legacy will endure through his contributions and the lives he touched.
