ADC Tridip Konwar Passes Away After Suicide Attempt in Guwahati

Tridip Konwar, a serving Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) in Assam, passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati. His death comes just days after he reportedly attempted to end his life by jumping from his official government quarter on July 10.

According to sources, ADC Konwar had been battling a prolonged illness for several months. The combination of deteriorating health and mental distress is suspected to have led to the tragic turn of events. Shortly after the incident on July 10, a suicide note—allegedly written by Konwar—was recovered, though its contents have not yet been officially disclosed.

He was admitted to Nemcare Hospital in a critical condition and remained under intensive medical supervision. Despite the efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his injuries today.

Konwar’s sudden death has cast a pall of gloom over the state’s administrative fraternity. Colleagues and officials who knew him remember him as a dedicated officer who had served with sincerity and commitment. Several senior bureaucrats have expressed grief over the loss and paid their condolences to the bereaved family.

An official inquiry is expected to be initiated to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the suicide attempt and his eventual demise. The Assam government has yet to issue a formal statement.
