In a significant operation against illegal narcotics, the Guwahati Police on Monday recovered nearly 6 kilograms of suspected cannabis (ganja) during a house search in the Fatasil area. The operation was conducted around 3:00 PM, based on source-based intelligence.
A team from Fatasil Ambari Police Station, led by the ACP of Azara division, launched the raid at a residence in Ambari Tiniali. During the search, approximately 5.882 kilograms of suspected cannabis were found concealed on the premises.
Police have apprehended one individual in connection with the seizure. The accused has been identified as Kartik Sangma (37),a resident of Ambari Tiniali under Fatasil Ambari Police Station.
Following recovery, a field test using a Drug Detection Kit (DDK) confirmed the substance to be cannabis. The seized contraband has been taken into custody in accordance with legal provisions under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
