Matchmaking or Money-Milking? Guwahati Firm’s Cover Blown
A shocking case of fraud and workplace abuse has surfaced in Guwahati, with allegations levelled against two prominent matrimonial consultancies—The Royal Weddings Matrimonial Consultant and Saat Phere Matrimonial Centre. A former employee of one of the firms has filed a police complaint, accusing the companies of cheating clients and mistreating staff.
The complainant, Chhayasmita Senapati, a young woman who worked as a Sales Executive at The Royal Weddings Matrimonial Consultant for over a year, lodged an FIR at Dispur Police Station on Monday. In her written complaint, Senapati claimed that the company was engaged in deceitful practices, collecting money from clients under the guise of matchmaking services but failing to deliver on promises.
Serious Allegations Against Owner Pinki Gayan
Senapati has named Pinki Gayan and Urmi Mala Gayan the owners of The Royal Weddings Matrimonial Consultant, as the main accused. She alleged that when she expressed her unwillingness to continue working due to the company’s “illegal activities,” she was physically assaulted, threatened with death, and coerced into silence.
The incident reportedly took place on the evening of June 29, 2025, at the company’s office located on the 3rd Floor of Aditya Tower in Guwahati. According to the complaint, Senapati was detained inside the office around 7 PM, her mobile phone was seized, and she was forced to make a written declaration and record a video in front of all staff members, assuring that she would not take any action that could harm the company.
Claims of Social Media Exploitation and Unpaid Dues
The former employee also stated that her social media accounts were misused to attract and mislead potential clients. She said she was often used as a "face" for the company without her full consent, and false promises were made to clients using her identity.
Furthermore, Senapati claimed she was denied her rightful dues, which included a monthly salary of ₹17,000 and additional incentives, totaling ₹21,000. Despite multiple reminders, the company allegedly refused to clear her payments and instead resorted to threats and intimidation.
Call for Investigation and Justice
In her appeal to the authorities, Senapati has sought immediate action and a thorough investigation into the firm’s activities. “I humbly request the police to look into the matter in detail and ensure that justice is served,” she wrote in her complaint.
Meanwhile, no official response has been issued by the owner or representatives of The Royal Weddings Matrimonial Consultant or Saat Phere Matrimonial Centre.
The case is currently under investigation by Dispur Police.
