RPF Rescues Three Minors Under ‘Operation Nanhe Faristey’ in Guwahati

RPF Rescues Three Minor Children at Guwahati Railway Station

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has rescued two minor girls and one minor boy who were found loitering in a distressed condition at Guwahati Railway Station. The rescue was carried out under the ongoing initiative Operation Nanhe Faristey, which aims to trace and protect runaway, trafficked, or abandoned children in and around railway premises.

The incident took place at around 11:00 am on Tuesday near the General Waiting Hall at the Kamakhya (KYQ) end of Platform No. 1. During a routine drive to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons and antisocial elements, RPF officers and staff noticed three minors, two girls and a boy, wandering alone and appearing anxious. On being approached and questioned, the children revealed their identities and place of origin.

The two girls were identified as Laxmi Rai (16) and Nirupama Rai (17), both hailing from Jaldaba Part 2 village under Kajigaon police station in Dhubri district, Assam. The boy, Mubarak Hussain (11), is a resident of Chautara in Kokrajhar district. According to their statements, they had fled their homes with the intention of visiting Guwahati city and had reached the railway station by boarding an unknown train.

Acting promptly, the RPF team ensured that the children were safe and contacted the appropriate authorities for their protection and rehabilitation. The two rescued girls were handed over to Railway Childline and later sent to the Jalukbari Children’s Home for safe custody. The minor boy was placed under the care of the Fatasil Ambari Children’s Home.
