Odalbakra Attack: Man Stabs Couple Near Temple

The first incident took place near the Beltoli Laxmi Mandir in Guwahati's Odalbakra locality, where a man identified as Shivam Pradhan allegedly attacked a local resident, Rajen Chetry, with a sharp weapon. Chetry’s wife, who tried to intervene, was also injured in the assault.

According to police, the attack occurred following a heated argument during a drinking session. "Initial findings suggest the altercation escalated due to intoxication. Both the man and his wife were injured in the attack and are undergoing treatment," said a senior officer of Odalbakra Police Station.

Shivam Pradhan was taken into custody shortly after the incident and has been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder and assault.

Borbari Incident: Man Attempts to Murder Woman Over Failed Relationship

In a separate case, another violent stabbing was reported from the Borbari locality under Dispur Police Station jurisdiction. The accused, identified as Baharul Haque, allegedly tried to murder a young Arunchali woman—his former partner—by attacking her with a knife inside her rented room late on Tuesday night.

The woman, an employee at a local nursing home, had reportedly been in a relationship with Baharul for the past five months. However, sources suggest she had been distancing herself from him in recent weeks, leading to tensions between the two.

“Baharul forcibly entered the woman’s rented room and launched a brutal knife attack with the intent to kill. Fortunately, she survived and is currently receiving medical attention,” said an official from Dispur Police.

Haque was arrested soon after the attack and is currently in police custody. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections, including attempt to murder.

Further investigations are underway in both cases.
