Twist in Tihu Youth’s Death: Nude Footage Surfaces, Family Cries Murder
The mysterious death of 27-year-old Navjyoti Talukdar from Sialmari village in Tihu has officially turned into a criminal investigation, after Guwahati Police registered a case based on the family’s allegations of murder.
Navjyoti , who was employed at a private financial firm in Guwahati, was living in a rented apartment in the Kahilipara area with his partner Sushmita Das. On the night of July 9, he was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Initially believed to be a case of suicide, new developments and disturbing evidence have cast serious doubts.
Photos and videos that surfaced after the incident show Navjyoti in a fully nude state, seated by a window just before his death. These visuals have led the family to allege that he was murdered and did not die by suicide.
Despite the initial assumption of suicide, the family firmly refused to accept that version of events. They accused Navjyoti 's live-in partner, Sushmita Das, of direct involvement in his death. Acting on their complaint, the family had earlier lodged an FIR at Bhagadattapur Police Outpost under Dispur Police Station.
Following the FIR, Guwahati Police have now registered a formal case, treating the matter as suspicious and warranting deeper investigation. Sources confirm that Sushmita Das will soon be summoned for detailed interrogation.
Navjyoti ’s father, Prahlad Talukdar, stated, “My son would never take his own life like this. The visuals show something more sinister. We believe he was killed.” He has urged the authorities to ensure a transparent and fair probe into the incident.
The incident has caused deep shock in Sialmari village, where Navjyoti was the only son of Prahlad and Sabitri Talukdar. The family had recently begun constructing a concrete house with Navjyoti ’s financial support—a dream cut short by the sudden tragedy.
Neighbours remember Navjyoti as a soft-spoken and hardworking youth, who remained focused on securing a better future for his family.
With the police case now officially registered, the family hopes the truth behind Navjyoti ’s death will come to light. They are demanding swift action, including identification and prosecution of anyone found responsible.
As the investigation progresses, the role of those who were present in the apartment during the incident, especially Sushmita Das, will be under intense scrutiny.
Pratidin Time will continue to track this developing story and provide updates as more details emerge.
