155 TET Teachers’ Files Petition in SC

The Teachers'Eligibility Test (TET) teachers' in another struggle has now moved to theSupreme Court of India challenging Gauhati High Court's verdict in which it hasinstructed the Assam government to conduct general TET examination.

155 contractual TET teachers' have filed a Special Leave Petition (C) at the Supreme Court. Although the hearing of the petition filed under 18886/2019 has not been done by the court but the state government's decision of conducting the examination to regularize the post of the contractual teachers' have become more complicated with the filing of the petition.

It is to bementioned that one Arup Kumar Medhi along with 80 teachers' who have qualifiedD.EL.Ed have moved to Gauhati High Court seeking to conduct examination for regularizationof the teachers but the bench consisting of one Justice has not given anyverdict for the teachers following which they had again moved to the high courtand filed a writ appeal. Based on the writ appeal, the high court hadinstructed the state government to conduct the examination and after conductingthe examination, the process of regularization will be done after properpublication of advertisement.

The state government had also started the procedure to conduct the general examination of TET teachers as per the instruction of the high court but at the same time, 155 contractual teachers' have moved to the supreme court challenging the decision of the high court.
