Both the organisations carried out a rally from Shahid Nyas Bhawan in Uzan Bazar to Raj Bhawan, the current residence of the Governor of Assam, to oppose the Citizenship Bill.

AASU secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said, "We will no way allow to implement the Citizenship Bill. Assam government will have to take steps to stop this conspiracy to disperse the very existence of the indigenous people of this State. The government needs to take up some serious steps rather than just assuring people that there is nothing to worry is not enough to escape from their responsibilities."

One of the members of Karmachari Parishad said, "We will not keep quiet until the Assam government scraps this Citizenship Bill. Assam government will have to face the consequences if the Bill is not abandoned as it is a major threat for the very existence of Assamese culture, language, society and the Assamese people itself.
