AASU Confers Pratima Baruah Pandey Award to Folk Artist Khagen Gogoi

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) has conferred the Pratima Baruah Pandey award, 2021 to noted folk artist and Bihu Samrat Khagen Gogoi. The students' body conferred the award every year on the death anniversary of the Goalpariya folk artist.

The Padmashre Pratima Baruah Pandey memorial award ceremony was held at Chandmari. The award consists of a citation, a Gamocha, one Xorai and a cash of Rs. 25,000.

Conferring the award, AASU Adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya said that a research centre should be established in the name of Pratima Pandey in her hometown. The government should emphasize on such issues, said Bhattacharyya.
