Reacting to the rising cases of sexual assault againstthe Gauhati University (GU) students, Assam Education Minister SiddharthaBhattacharya on Sunday said that the university authorities have not informedhim anything regarding the incidents.
Speaking to the media in Guwahati, Minister Bhattacharyasaid, "I have not been informed by the university authorities regarding theincidents." The Minister further said that he would not consider taking anyactions if the GU authority does not report it to him.
It may be mentioned here that after a student of the GUhas filed an FIR with the Jalukbari Police alleging sexual assault byunidentified miscreants on Thursday, another girl of the varsity took to socialmedia to share her traumatic experience on Saturday evening. However, thepolice have failed to nab the miscreants involved in these incidents.
