The unrest began after a team from the Forest Department visited the area on Wednesday, sparking widespread fears that the government is preparing to hand over tribal land to the corporate giant. The visit triggered panic among locals, who suspect a secretive move to transfer forest or community land for industrial purposes.

The protesting groups accused both the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration and the Assam state government of failing to consult indigenous communities before making any decisions about the land.

“We will continue our movement until the government makes a clear statement that no land in this region will be handed over to the Adani Group,” warned the protestors.

The coordinated agitation marks a growing resistance by Adivasi and indigenous groups in Assam against what they see as corporate encroachment on their ancestral lands.
