AGP fields Zaved, Deepak

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has fielded Zaved Islam and Kumar Deepak Das from Dhburi and Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency respectively.

This was decided late last night after Congress declared their names.

In Dhubri it will be a triangular contest between AIUDF'S Badaruddin Ajmal, Congress's Abu Taher Bepari and AGP's Zaved Islam. Zaved was an independent MLA and his father Zehirul Islam was a long term Congressmen from Mankachar area.

On the other hand at Barpeta  Congress's Abdul Khaleq shall be pitted against AIUDF's Hafiz Rafikul Islam and AGP's Kumar Deepak Das.

Both the constituencies have a Muslim majority and were won by AIUDF in the 2011 Lok Sabha election. Interestingly both were won by Ajmal brothers. This time however younger brother Sirajuddin Ajmal stayed away from politics.
