The two-day census of aquatic birds in Kaziranga National Park (KNP) has started from Friday. The counting will take place in 21 waterbodies of five ranges of the park.
The counting will include mainly the birds that are found in aquatic and humid areas for which 37 areas in 21 waterbodies have been identified.
According to an official of the Park, the ornithologists (who studies bird) and the NGOs will start the bird census with the help of binoculars, range finder, and GPS. Volunteers have been trained for the bird census.
In the previousyears, 11,500 birds were found during the counting and the park authority isexpecting more bird counts this time.
