Three people were arrested on Wednesday night from a train in Assam's Lakhimpur. The people were in possession of a fake gold artifact which they planned to sell in Guwahati.

The three people arrested have been identified as Sariful Islam, Sahabuddin and Sahar Ali, residents of Bangalmara area. They were arrested from down Murkongselek-Guwahati Lachit Express at Harmutty Railway Junction.

According to sources, railway police with the help of Durniti Birodhi Yuva Shakti activists arrested the three culprits. A boat-shaped fake gold artifact was recovered from them.

Notably, the infamous fake gold trade of Bangalmara had a different style; they used to lure customers and tricked them by taking large amounts cash. This is the first time they tried to come to Guwahati and sell their fake gold items.
