Assam Floods: Rahul urges party workers’ help

With flood fury continuing to devastate 31 districts of Assam, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, taking to Twitter, urged his party workers to come out in help of the flood affected.

Mentioning Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura along with Assam, Gandhi in Hindi stated that the flood conditions in these states has turned severe affecting thousands and lakhs of lives. He appealed to all the Congress workers to immediately join in relief and rescue operations.

The annual floods in the state have wreaked havoc in 32 districts affecting more than 40 lakhs people. Houses washed away and hectares of agricultural land eroded or damaged, people have been forced to lieave their homes and take shelter into relief camps across the state.

However, there are no signs of respite from the flood fury as the major rivers such as the Brahmaputra, Subansiri, Aai, among others continue to flow above the danger level.
