Congress's top leader, Tarun Gogoi during his tenure as Assam chief minister stayed for 18 years at Koinadhora. After him, the next chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal chose to stay at the Brahmaputra Guest House at Kharguli Hill, Uzan Bazar from 2016-21.

Neighbouring Meghalaya also claimed that Koinadhara is located on a piece of land which belonged to Meghalaya and is located on the small hillock falls Khanapara –Pilangakata.
