State hikes 5% VAT on Fuel

Petrolprice will be hiked by over Rs. 2.5 per litreand diesel by more than Rs. 2.3 after Assam government raised taxes on thefuels on Tuesday.

The Sonowalgovernment has decided to charge 5 percent VAT on fuel. The decision will bringadditional revenue to the State government.

Earlier,the State government had withdrawn the VAT from fuel owing to rise in fuelprices.
