An 'Attestation Parade' for new recruits to the Army was held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre at Sukhovi in Nagaland on Saturday.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju participated in the event in which he stated that the security of North East is of paramount importance as it is a strategic area and Assam Rifles is playing an important role in protecting it.
While addressing the event in Nagaland, Rijiju emphasised on the regiment's diversified role.
He said that the Assam Rifles is has been playing a key role in today's scenario, ranging from security to providing welfare and developmental assistance to the people.
Altogether 233 recruits, including 22 women recruits were inducted into the force. The Minister witnessed the training activities of women recruits in the Centre insurgency training area.
