Baghjan: OIL resumes well-capping operation

The ongoing operation that was temporarily halted due to an explosion which occurred on Wednesday near oil well no.5 of Oil India in Baghjan district of Tinsukia, has resumed today.

The two expert teams are working on the installation of a blowout preventer. On completion of the installation, the pressure of the flame and gas will be controlled following which the work on capping of the well will be carried out.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday Oil India Limited stated, "The team could successfully complete more than 70% of retrieval job of 7 1/16" tubing spool yesterday and for the remaining work had commenced since today morning. The 3 experts from Alert suffered minor burn injuries during removal of the spool today".

Oil further said, "The 3 experts were provided immediate medical attention by doctors at well site & later on they were taken to the burn unit section of Astha Nursing Home at Dibrugarh. They have been released after dressing of the burn injuries".
