Goreswar in Baksa district reported its first death of COVID-19 on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Bidul Ahmed of Mahirapara Simila village.
Ahmed who was a patient of diabetes and high blood pressure was ill for some days and was admitted to GNRC hospital, Guwahati. He was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 12.
It was suspected that he got the infection from his niece who recently returned from Bangalore although her swab test result was tested negative.
