Barpeta Firecracker Blast: One dead at GMCH

A woman who was burnt in the Barpeta firecracker industry blast died on Tuesday night at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The woman has been identified as Parbati Das who was a worker in thefirecracker industry at Barpeta and she was burnt at the blast that took placein the industry during the time of preparing firecrackers and was rushed toGMCH.

Das was a resident of Barpeta. Following her death, the family membersalleged that the owner of the industry has not provided any assistance for hertreatment.

It may be mentioned that 13 workers were injured in the blast and wereimmediately rushed to Barpeta Medical College and Hospital and the four workerswho were critically injured were referred to GMCH immediately on Monday night.

Moreover, the family members of Parbati Das alleged that the owner hasnot even visited their home to take stock of the situation.
