Barpeta: Illegal Liquor Seized Ahead of Durga Puja

In an operation launched by Transport department against drunken driver in Barpeta ahead of Durga Puja, huge amount of illegal liquor has been seized from the district.

The department seized the liquor from two vehicles Swift and Indicabearing number AS 15 F 7222 and AS 01 AX 2515 respectively.

The liquor along with the vehicles has been seized while it was on itsway to Barpeta from Howly. The department seized two cars, foreign liquor andcountry liquor near NRL petrol pump in Barpeta.

Moreover, police arrested two persons in connection to it. Police said that among the seized liquor, 20 cartons are foreign liquor, 10 cartons of beer and 200 liters of country liquor.

The operation was launched under the leadership of Enforcement OfficerHimanshu Das. The officer said that the liquor seized was around worth Rs.1lakh.
